Ousted Anne Arundel councilman can resume law practice

Ruling comes two weeks before Daryl Jones' effort to regain Council seat comes before top Md. court

Daryl D. Jones, the former Anne Arundel County councilman whose law license was suspended and lost his County Council seat this year after he was convicted of failing to file federal tax returns, may return to the practice of law.

The Court of Appeals issued the order Tuesday. Terms of having his law license suspended in February allowed him to ask to regain it after six months.

Jones is also seeking to return to his County Council post. The Council had ousted Jones from office in January, saying that the five-month prison sentence meant he wouldn't be living in his district. The Court of Appeals is scheduled to hear his appeal of that in about two weeks.
