Gordon Biersch helps out the neighborhood

Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant, a recent addition to the Harbor East neighborhood, has made a $4,000 contribution to Waterfront Partnership's Healthy Harbor Initiative.

"It made perfect sense to support the Healthy Harbor Initiative that works to improve the health of the same harbor we look at every time we sit at our bar and outdoor patio," said Jon Jones, general manager for the Baltimore location. "This donation is just one way we can thank the community for welcoming us to Harbor East."

The $4,000 donation, generated from drink sales at the restaurant's grand opening events, will support Healthy Harbor's mission to make Baltimore's harbor swimmable and fishable by 2020.

"We are very grateful Gordon Biersch chose to support the Healthy Harbor Initiative and our vision of a recreational harbor within the next 10 years," said Waterfront Partnership president Laurie Schwartz.

The Harbor East Gordon Biersch location opened in Baltimore on Oct. 29.
