Letter: Democrats out of sync

November 15, 2012|Letter to The Aegis

This is in response to Wendy Sawyer's letter to the Forum on Nov. 14 titled Harford politics 'out of sync.'

Ms. Sawyer states "The outcome of this year's election demonstrates how much Harford County is out of sync with not just the rest of Maryland, but the majority of our nation's citizens." "The obstructionist position by our Republican elected officials have served Harford County poorly. Failure to work with the Democratic  statewide majority leaves Harford County at the end of the line at the very time when we need state support for our schools and road systems."

Is Ms. Sawyer suggesting that if the citizens of a specific County (or any Maryland citizen) does not share the Democrats views, ideals or opinions then that County/citizen will be treated unfairly by the reigning Democratic Party as compared to Counties/citizens that do share the Democrats philosophy?

She also states: "As long as the Democratic Party remains the majority in the State, Republicans must learn to work with them, not against them." What happened to freedom of choice in this country? She says "Until this happens, a Republican majority in Harford County will be meaningless, if not harmful to our citizens." Does a majority Party within a State become a Dictatorship over all other affiliations and render those citizens "Meaningless, and Harmful"?

The scary part is these comments come from the CHAIR of the Harford County Democratic Central Committee. After reading this I have to wonder just Who is "Out of sync" and which Party generates the "Obstructionist" position! It sounds like the Democratic Party's philosophy, at least in Harford County is, Do it our way or you will be punished.
