Every morning, Monday through Friday, blogger Matt Vensel will hook you up with reading material -- mostly on the Ravens but with some other Baltimore sports stuff, too -- to skim through as you slug down coffee and slack off at the start of your workday. The Ravens signed former Oakland Raiders cornerback Chris Johnson and put running back Bobby Rainey on injured reserve. … The Ravens brought back former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Dennis Dixon, who will replace rookie safety Omar Brown on the practice squad. … Backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor is cherishing his recent playing time. … Mike Preston thinks Ray Rice will be the focal point of the offense on Sunday night.


Jacoby Jones has become a major weapon for the Ravens on special teams. … Even just the presence of linebacker Terrell Suggs is a boost for the Baltimore defense. … Are the Steelers under more pressure to win Sunday than the Ravens are? … Here is rookie outside linebacker Courtney Upshaw flipping over a car.
