Wilde Lake lineman Moise Larose decommitted from Rutgers on Thursday night and has committed to play for Maryland, according to Wildecats coach Mike Harrison.
The 6-foot-5, 285-pound Larose was an All-State and second-team All-Metro offensive lineman last season, but he has been even more impressive on the defensive side of the ball this fall.
Larose had committed to Rutgers as an offensive tackle, but Harrison said last month that the coach had been getting a lot of calls from college coaches who would rather see him on their defensive lines. Harrison said he did not know where Larose will play for the Terrapins.
Because the Wildecats (4-5) are scheduled to play their season finale today at 4 p.m. against Marriotts Ridge at Howard, Larose (also called Moses, the English equivalent of the French Moise) was unavailable for comment Friday.
