Man shot in Johnston Square neighborhood

Officers responded to reports of shots fired, found man shot at least once, police said

A man was shot at least once in the 1100 block of Homewood Avenue early Tuesday evening, police said.

Officers responded to reports of gunshots at 5:20 p.m. and found a man shot at least once in the upper body, police said. He was transported to an area hospital. The victim was not named and police said no other information was immediately available.

It was the sixth shooting in the Johnston Square neighborhood this year, according to police statistics. One of them was fatal. 28-year-old Gregory Kearney was shot and killed on Feb. 6.
