The Columbia Orchestra — Seeking volunteers for concerts and/or light office duties. Duties would include ushering, handing out programs and answering general questions at the orchestra's eight concerts, running from October to June. Discover Daniels Day — Seeking hospitality coordinator to oversee selection, delivery, and set up of food and drinks for volunteers at daylong event on Saturday, Nov. 3. Day, organized by Pataspco Heritage Greenway, focuses on local history and the Patapsco River valley environment. Hollifield Station Elementary — Seeking volunteers to support students in grades kindergarten-five with reinforcement activities in reading and/or math. Training will be provided. Volunteers are also needed to assist with organized physical activities and/or a walking initiative during recess. Dates and times are flexible, and will begin when school starts in the fall. Hollifield Station Elementary Transport — Seeking a volunteer to transport print jobs between the school, 8701 Stonehouse Drive, Ellicott City, and the Howard County Public School System print shop, located at 10920 Route 108. Hospital Accompaniment Advocate — An on-call volunteer position responsible for responding to Howard County General Hospital within 30 minutes of receiving a call, to provide comfort, support and advocacy to survivors of sexual assault. Howard County Commission on Aging — Seeking applicants to serve five-year terms and represent diverse professional backgrounds, various age and ethnic groups, and different geographic areas throughout the county. The commission works with the Office on Aging to plan activities, researches county and state legislation that would impact the health and well-being of older adults and their families, and provides testimony when appropriate. Candidates must be Howard County residents, age 18 or older, have an interest in promoting successful aging for older adults in the county and be able to attend the once-a-month meetings.
