Vietnam has its steamed buns. Russia has piroshki, Paraguay has empanadas, Cuba has guava and cheese pastries, and England, has Cornish pasties. All of them are variations on the bun, and most of them are sold on the streets, as a quick, warm snack or mini-meal.
The buns will be together at The Bun Shop, a cafe headed to Mount Vernon. Owners, Minh Vo and Andrew Bui have signed a lease for the space at 239 W. Read St., which has previously housed Zachi Cafe and, more recently, Sweet Bakery.
