How many casino jobs would go to Marylanders?

The pro-Question 7 elements tout that bringing another casino to National Harbor and adding table games to all six would provide 12,000 jobs. Presumably some of these would be at the Baltimore site, not yet built, but what they are really talking about is National Harbor.

Look at a Prince George's County map. National Harbor is on the shore of the Potomac River, directly across the river from Virginia, and a short (but not necessary quick) drive across the Wilson Bridge. It's also about two miles from Washington, and a convenient drive out of the city down I-295.

Do the proponents expect us to believe that none of these construction jobs and permanent casino jobs will go to residents of Virginia and Washington? How are they going to accomplish that? Refuse to accept their applications? Nonsense. They won't care whether a brick layer or a waitress lives in Maryland or elsewhere. So those paychecks will go back into Virginia and D.C., get spent there and add to the economy and tax revenues of those jurisdictions, not Maryland. My guess is that at least half of the workers at National Harbor will not live in Maryland.

We are being scammed.
