Roundup: No. 6 Archbishop Spalding beats Severn, 3-1, in girls soccer

Sarah Martin scored twice and Madeline Ostrowski added another to power No. 6 Archbishop Spalding girls soccer team past host Severn, 3-1, Friday.

The Cavaliers (9-3-3) clinched the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference Red Division.


No. 13 Edmondson 47, City 12: The Knights (4-4) drew within one point in the second quarter, before the Red Storm (7-1) reeled off four straight touchdowns before halftime.

Troy Robinson completed a 3-yard pass to Brian Anderson and City trailed 7-6 with 11:54 left in the second quarter. Robinson's second touchdown pass, a 20-yarder to Deione Petty with 20 seconds left in the half for a 35-18 halftime score.

Boys soccer

St. Paul's 3, Severn 0: Pat Buttarazzi got the shutout of the host Crusaders. Iliyas Mirza had a goal and two assists.

Field hockey

Severn 1, St. Paul's 1, OT: The Admirals scored 10 minutes into the first half when Katie Kleinknecht deflected in a hard ball from Regan Leavitt.

St. Paul scored early in the second half when Kendall Rogers put one in off a scuffle in front of the goal.

Severn had eight shots on goal and St. Paul goalie, Carrera Lucas recorded seven saves. St. Paul had 10 shots on goal and Severn goalie Sydney Zarriello recorded nine saves included a 1-on-1 diving tackle during the overtime period.
