Traffic: Accident on I-70 east near I-695

No major delays reported on area transit systems

As of 9 a.m. Friday, traffic was slow on I-70 eastbound near I-695, due to an accident.

All lanes of the inner loop of the Capital Beltway have reopened in Bethesda as of 11:30 a.m. following two separate tractor-trailer accidents. Maryland State Police say both trucks were leaking fuel, which had to be drained before they could be towed. Police say both vehicles have now been cleared. Traffic was delayed throughout Friday morning.

In the Baltimore area, accidents were slowing traffic on Route 543 near Chestnut Hill Road in Forest Hill and U.S. 29 northbound near I-70 in Howard County.

Route 99 was closed near Weatherstone Drive in Howard County, due to a downed pole and wires. A disabled vehicle was blocking traffic on I-95 northbound near the Fort McHenry Tunnel.

On Saturday from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m., Greenway will be closed to through traffic between University Parkway and 34th Street, due to crane lift activity. City officials advise motorists to use alternate routes.

Monument Street is closed between Wolfe Street and Patterson Park Avenue in East Baltimore, due to sinkhole repairs. Maryland Transit Administration bus 35 has been diverted.

There are no major delays reported on area transit systems.
