Hospice care Carol Small, a volunteer coordinator with Seasons Hospice, gives a presentation on understanding hospice care at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17. Learn about the history of the hospice movement and the philosophy of hospice.
Lecture Elaine Friebele gives a talk on the Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary at 10 a.m. Oct. 23.
Art A new class, "Drawing with Lucille," will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Tuesdays through Dec. 11. Cost is $10 for supplies.

'The Chesapeake' Photographer Denny Lynch gives a slide presentation that depicts the history, culture and beauty of this region at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18.
Party A patio party featuring music by Johnny Walker will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19. Light refreshments will be served.
Weight-loss program Dietitian Sheryl Hoehner will offer a seven-session class on weight loss from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursdays. Topics will include pointers on losing weight, decreasing sodium and increasing fiber in your diet, and strategies for reducing overindulgence during the holidays. Fee is $25.
Book club The center's club meets at 9 a.m. the first Friday of each month.

Estate planning program Attorney Christine Hubbard presents "Estate Planning, Asset Protection and Charitable Giving" at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 15. The program will address the fundamentals of estate planning, current estate tax laws, tax planning strategies, asset protection and tax-efficient ways to make charitable gifts.
Medicare A representative from the Department of Aging and Disabilities will talk on Medicare open enrollment and preventive care services at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 18.
