Arundel moves into the Top 10 in state football poll

October 09, 2012|By Katherine Dunn

Eight Baltimore-area teams remain in the Maryland High School Football Media State Poll with Arundel’s 66-34 win over Old Mill boosting the Wildcats into the Top 10. The Wildcats move up three spots to No. 9, while Old Mill’s loss dropped the defending Class 4A state champs five spots to No. 21.

Gilman remained No. 2, behind top-ranked Good Counsel, the only state team to beat the Greyhounds this season. Calvert Hall dropped from No. 4 to No. 5 after the close call against Mount St. Joseph – a 27-21 double-overtime win.

No. 6 River Hill, No. 14 Westminster, No. 17 Dunbar and No. 18 Franklin each moved up one spot. St. Paul’s and Hereford received votes but not enough to crack the Top 25.
