Baltimore Co. to host 'big trees sale'

Event set for Oct. 13

October 05, 2012|By Alison Knezevich, The Baltimore Sun

Baltimore County is hosting an Oct. 13 sale where residents can choose from a variety of maples, oaks, and other large trees.

The "Big Trees Sale," held every fall and spring, is meant to promote environmental benefits that come with planting large trees, such as providing shade, soaking up storm water and controlling erosion.

For more information, visit baltimorecountymd.gov/Agencies/environment/forestsandtrees/bigtrees.html.

People can order trees online and pick them up, or buy them Oct. 13 from 9 a.m. through 2 p.m. at the Baltimore County Center for Maryland Agriculture, 1114 Shawan Road, Cockeysville. Pick-up details for online purchases are given after the order is made.

Residents with questions can contact the Department of Environmental Protection and Sustainability at 410-887-4488, ext. 242.
