Police are investigating the fatal shooting late Monday of a 43-year-old man who was found inside his Northwest Baltimore home by a relative.
The relative was sleeping in the home in the 2800 block of Quantico Ave. and heard a noise, then heard footsteps coming from the stairwell. After going downstairs, he returned to the second floor and found Sean Melton Sr. lying in a doorway suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body.
Melton was taken to Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead just before midnight. Police say they don't have a motive for the crime and found no signs of forced entry in the home.
Police also identified the victim of a fatal shooting that occurred at about 3 a.m. Sunday in the 600 block of N. Belnord Ave. The victim has been identified as 28-year-old Elliot Lee, of the 1700 block of E. Lanvale St.
Police don't have a motive in Lee's killing either. In February, he was given a 15 year prison sentence after being convicted of drug charges - but all but about two months was suspended.
As of Tuesday, 167 people have been killed in Baltimore this year, up 10 from the same point last year.
