Rohde & Schwarz begins building new facility in Columbia

55,000 square foot building to be complete next fall

A German company that manufactures high-tech products started construction on a new facility in Columbia on Friday, Howard County officials said.

Rohde & Schwarz, which produces communications and broadcasting equipment, is constructing a 55,000 square foot facility in the 6800 block of Benjamin Franklin Drive, according to a statement from the Howard County Economic Development Authority.

The company now occupies 40,000 square feet on Robert Fulton Drive in Columbia, the statement said. Rohde & Schwarz anticipates the new building to be complete in the fall of 2013, according to the development authority.
