Gilman’s 13-6 win Saturday over New Jersey power Don Bosco Prep boosted the Greyhounds to No. 2 in this week’s media Maryland High School Football State Poll released Tuesday.

The Greyhounds had fallen to No. 4 after opening the season 0-2, but jumped over Quince Orchard and Calvert Hall to reclaim the No. 2 spot behind Good Counsel.

Calvert Hall dropped from No. 3 to No. 5 after losing to DeMatha, 23-14. Quince Orchard is No. 3 with DeMatha up one spot to No. 4.

The only other local teams besides Gilman to move up were Westminster and Arundel. The Owls rose to No. 20 from No. 25 after coming from behind to beat Urbana, 35-21, while Arundel was up a spot to No. 12 after its 55-0 romp over Northeast.

River Hill remained No. 6 while Old Mill dropped three to No. 11, Catonsville dropped three to No. 16 and Atholton dropped four to No. 24. Dunbar stuck at No. 23.

South River, Hereford, Howard and Meade were among 14 teams that also received votes.
