The 40-year-old owner of a Pasadena barber shop became the victim of a robbery Sunday evening, when he tried to lend a lighter to a stranger. His attempt at a good deed ended in armed robbery.
As he was closing his shop at about 6:45 p.m., the barber noticed a man lingering at his truck, which was parked in front of the shop in 8400 block of Fort Smallwood Road. When he said the shop was closing, the man asked for a lighter. The victim left the shop and went to his truck to retrieve a lighter. The suspect produced a handgun, demanded money and fled on foot with an undisclosed amount. Several officers and a K-9 unit canvassed the area, but were unable to locate the suspect.
