Baseball

The 10-U Columbia Sun Devils travel team has two roster spots left. This is an elite travel team that will play a full fall and spring league season, Ripken tournaments and a number of other local tournaments. We are looking for two well-rounded baseball players who cannot not have turned 11 prior to May 1, 2013. Email jason.barke@verizon.net to schedule a try out.

The Columbia Red Storm will have two high school travel baseball teams. The second team will hold tryouts for the 2013 season on Sat., Sept. 15 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Oakland Mills High School. Call Steve Sikorski, 443-756-2549, for additional information.

The 15-U Elkridge Hurricanes team is looking for ballplayers who are passionate about the sport, want to play at a very high competitive level and have a potential interest in playing college baseball. The team will play in several college showcase tournaments in 2013. Cheerleading

SuperSquads after school cheerleading is starting soon at Bellows Spring, Centennial Lane, Clemens Crossing, Deep Run, Elkridge, Gorman Crossing, Hollifield, Ilchester, Manor Woods, Northfield, Pointers Run, Rockburn, Stevens Forest, Thunder Hill, Veterans and Worthington Elementary schools. Golf

The first Hammond High School Boosters golf tournament on Oct. 6 from 1-6 p.m. at Fairway Hills Golf Club. There will be prizes for longest drive, closest to the pin, door prizes, a catered dinner and also a silent auction featuring signed sports memorabilia. Entry fee: $100. Don't golf? Sponsor a hole. Basketball

HoopKidz Instructional Basketball program begins its Saturday fall session at 9 a.m., Sept. 15 at the Maryland Juniors Sports Center, in Jessup. HoopKidz is designed to teach boys and girls ages 3-13. The program lasts six weeks. Go to http://www.hoopkidz.com or call 1-888-466-7549.

The Maryland Hoopmasters will hold an AAU basketball camp and team tryouts for boys and girls in grades five through 11. Email hoopnation1@gmail.com or call 443-451-5512.

The Central Maryland Attitude National 8th Grade AAU team is having tryouts at Manchester Valley High School Sept. 18, 20, and 25 from 6-8 p.m. The team is seeking experienced girls' basketball players in seventh and eightth grade who have an interest in playing competitive basketball year around.

The team will play one game league game a week in the fall winter with limited practice. It will play in several competitive East Coast tournaments, attend AAU Nationals in Disney and play in College Recruiting Showcases next spring and summer with practice twice a week in Carroll and Howard counties.

Soccer

Softball

Registration is open for the HCYP fastpitch softball fall season for girls ages 5-17. This is an instructional program for 8-U, 10-U and 12-U players. It also includes a competitive older league primarily for high school players not playing year-round but looking toward spring tryouts. Go to http://www.hcyp.org for information and registration.

Football

Mt. Hebron's homecoming is Sept. 29. The day starts with a pancake breakfast from 7:30-10:30 a.m. in the school cafeteria. Tickets are $5 in advance ($6 a the door); children under 5 are free. There will be entertainment and a silent auction. Tickets may be purchased at all home football games or by emailing Kacy824@gmail.com.
