State football: Oliver, Buffalo charge past Morgan State, 56-34

Robert Council threw for 161 yards and two touchdowns as Morgan State fell to Buffalo, 56-34, on Saturday night.

Travis Davidson rushed for 136 yards, including a 38-yard touchdown run that brought visiting Morgan (1-1) to within eight points with 2 minutes, 30 seconds remaining in the first half, the closest they would be for the rest of the contest.

The Bears' defense had no answer to either the rushing or passing attack of Buffalo (1-1).

The Bulls' Brenden Oliver rushed for 238 yards and two touchdowns while quarterback Alex Zordich threw for 238 yards and four touchdowns, three of which were caught by wide receiver Alex Neutz.

Buffalo broke the game open at 35-13 with two touchdowns in the final two minutes of the second quarter.

Johns Hopkins 34, Susquehanna 7: Junior JD Abbott ran for two touchdowns as visiting Johns Hopkins (2-0 overall, 1-1 Centennial Conference) extended its regular-season winning streak to 16 games.

Quarterback Robbie Matey led an efficient Johns Hopkins offense, throwing for 231 yards and a touchdown.

The Blue Jays held the Crusaders (1-1, 0-1) to 138 yards of total offense.

Waynesburg 21, Frostburg State 7: Ken Emmons threw for 241 yards on 26 attempts in a losing effort for the visiting Bobcats.

Frostburg State (1-1) struck first when Chuky Iweh scored on a 1-yard touchdown run. The Yellow Jackets (2-0) responded by scoring 21 unanswered points, reaching the end zone twice in the second quarter and once in the fourth.

Albright 29, Stevenson 22, OT: The Mustangs' Anthony Reid threw for 134 yards and a touchdown and ran for 93 yards and two touchdowns in the overtime loss.

Reid scored an 8-yard touchdown run with 41 seconds left in regulation to give the visiting Mustangs (0-2) a three-point lead. On the next possesion, Albright (2-0) drove to the Stevenson 30-yard line, where Dan Sobolweski kicked a 47-yard field goal as time expired to send the game into overtime.

The Lions won the game when junior quarterback TJ Luddy connected with Scott Pillar on a 13-yard touchdown pass and the Mustangs failed to match.

Moravian 21, McDaniel 7: Matt Emerson rushed for 153 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries in a losing effort for the visiting Green Terror.

McDaniel (0-2) tied the game at 7 late in the first half, but the Greyhounds (1-1) responded by scoring two touchdowns in the last 1:06 of the first half.

Wesley 17, Salisbury 7: Ross Flanigan rushed for 135 yards on 12 carries and caught three passes for 51 yards but Salisbury (1-1) lost.

Askia Jahad, who rushed for 98 yards on 20 carries in the game, sealed the victory for visiting Wesley (2-0) with a 15-yard touchdown run with 2:06 left.
