September 08, 2012|By Yvonne Wenger, The Baltimore Sun

Two women were killed early Saturday in a head-on collision in Deale and a third was flown to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries, officials said.

Sara Grace Cassidy, 32, of Dundalk died around 8 a.m. when she drove her 1998 Lexus off the right side of Bay Front Road near Rockhold Creek Road in Deale, overcorrected and veered into the westbound lane, striking a 2004 Honda Element head-on.

The front-seat passenger in the Honda, Frances Shryock-Hesson, 61, of Deale, was ejected from the vehicle during the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Janice Lynette Hollabaugh, 43, of Deale, the driver of the Honda, was flown to Prince George's Hospital Center, where she was in stable condition late Saturday. Hollabaugh was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by firefighters.

Police did not know what caused Cassidy to drive off the road, nor did they know whether speed or alcohol played a factor in the crash. An investigation continues.
