The first game of DeAndre Lane's senior year was a big one.
Lane, a Terps running back commitment from Catonsville, powered the Comets to a 27-7 win over Boys' Latin.
Senior DeAndre' Lane gained 203 of the Comets' 321 rushing yards on 22 carries and scored two touchdowns.
** UM wide receiver pledge Deon Long had a record-setting day for Iowa Western in its 83-22 win over New Mexico Military.
Long, a Maryland recruit, had 19 receptions for 210 yards and two touchdowns before the intermission. The transfer from New Mexico finished with 20 catches for 246 yards and 3 TDs – all IWCC records.
** Maryland-bound quarterback Shane Cockerille's Gilman squad suffered a 20-19 overtime loss to Good Counsel.
Gilman quarterback Shane Cockerille was sacked four times but still completed 8 of 22 passes for 175 yards and a touchdown.
Basketball recruiting
** Maryland is "standing out" to Dez Wells, according to InsideMDSports. The Xavier transfer visited College Park this weekend and will check out Oregon next. Memphis also received a visit from the former four-star prospect. A decision should be coming soon, according to Alex Prewitt.
