Voter ID = voter suppression

August 28, 2012

Regarding your letter writer's comments supporting voter ID laws, it's hard to believe that those who want to keep government out of our lives and also lower federal and state costs are in favor of adding another layer of bureaucracy ("Voter ID laws don't disenfranchise minorities," Aug. 21).

I can't remember the last time someone asked me for ID at my polling place. We know from many studies that voter fraud is minuscule. The only logical explanation for this movement is to keep older, poorer and less educated people from exercising their sacred right to vote.
