Hollifield Station Elementary — Seeking volunteers to support students in grades kindergarten-five with reinforcement activities in reading and/or math. Training will be provided. Hospital Accompaniment Advocate — An on-call volunteer position responsible for responding to Howard County General Hospital within 30 minutes of receiving a call, to provide comfort, support and advocacy to survivors of sexual assault. Howard County Commission on Aging — Seeking applicants to serve five-year terms and represent diverse professional backgrounds, various age and ethnic groups, and different geographic areas throughout the county. The commission works with the Office on Aging to plan activities, researches county and state legislation that would impact the health and well-being of older adults and their families, and provides testimony when appropriate. Candidates must be Howard County residents, age 18 or older, have an interest in promoting successful aging for older adults in the county and be able to attend the once-a-month meetings. Howard County Conservancy Volunteer Naturalists — Seeking volunteer naturalists for its Fall 2012 field trip programs. Naturalists will assist conservancy staff during field trips by leading hikes on the conservancy's 232-acre farm property. Fall field trips are offered during October and November, and naturalists are asked to lead a minimum of three hikes. Training will be held Thursdays in September for the elementary program and Tuesdays for the secondary program; and runs from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. The cost for materials is $10.
