Fire and medical crews, as well as police officers, entered a home in Sandtown-Winchester Wednesday evening, after neighbors reported they had not seen the resident since Sunday.

Crews accessed the home in the 1700 block North Carey Street through a second-floor window and found the body of a 65-year-old man near the basement stairs. The victim showed obvious signs of trauma and the death has been labeled a homicide, police said. The body was taken to the Office of the Medical Examiner for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Earlier Wednesday, a 22-year-old man was found shot in the Hamilton Hills neighborhood. Police located the victim, who was suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg, in the 2900 block of Bayonne Avenue. He had fled there after two suspects robbed and shot him in the 5700 block of Harford Road. He is being treated at an area hospital.
