Paul Ryan pick a sign of desperation

Robert L. Ehrlich Jr., in his Aug. 19 column in The Sun, views Mitt Romney's selection of Paul Ryan to be his running mate as a "bold" choice ("Paul Ryan is a good pick — but very risky"). I see it, instead, as a move of desperation. Mr. Romney is not popular with the right-wing fringe who feel he is not conservative enough for them, so he has chosen "the darling of the Tea Party" in order to shore up his image as being a true conservative. Just another example of Mr. Romney pandering to the right.
