U.S. Futures Elite team selects 15 field hockey players from Maryland

The 2013 Futures Elite Selections have been made for U.S. Field Hockey and 15 of the 161 players are from Maryland.

The Futures Elite squad is part of the Futures Elite Academy Program which is the top level of the Olympic development pipeline. According to the TeamUSA.org field hockey website, the program also includes the U17, U19 and U21 junior national team squads. The Futures Elite Academy Program exists to provide additional training and competition opportunities for athletes identified with the potential to someday represent the U.S.

Athletes making the 2013 squad from Maryland are:

Marissa Balleza (Severna Park); Sarah Bates (Glenelg Country School); Jennifer Bleakney (Atholton); Haley Bowcutt (Annapolis); Kayla Devlin (Annapolis); Maeve Doherty (Severna Park); Natalie Faust (Roland Park Country School); Linnea Gonzales (Patterson Mill); Kelly Johnson (Glenelg Country School); Yumi Kim (Meade); Kendall Kuntz (Garrison Forrest); Danielle Maines (North County); Liz Mata (Severna Park); Rachel Park (Bryn Mawr); Heather Wiley (Caravel Academy).
