Baltimore police on Friday warned of a scam targeting elderly folks in the city.
A woman calls the victims claiming to be a tax official, and tells them they have outstanding Baltimore bills, authorities said. She adds that a city official, sometimes a police officer or sheriff, will come to the person's home to collect the overdue payments.
A white male, shown in a police composite sketch, then shows up and robs the victims, police said. Some of those targeted have been assaulted.
