Slots bill: Why stop with buying off the veterans' vote?

August 17, 2012

Why stop with just trying to get the veteran's vote ("General Assembly OKs casino bill: Also allows slots-like machines at veterans' halls," Aug. 15)?

Soon politicians looking to curry favor with voters will be putting slots in gas stations while people are waiting for an oil change or in the check-out lines at food stores. Or how about in the state's men's and ladies' rooms?

The governor and his henchmen aren't thinking on a wide enough scale. There are lots of votes to be had out there and I'm sure even The Sun could come up with some great ideas on where more might be found.
