BGE customers to air derecho outage concerns this week

August 13, 2012|By Scott Dance

Baltimore Gas and Electric Co.customers will get opportunities this week to air concerns about extended power outages that followed the deadly derecho storm of June 29.

Hearings will be at 7 p.m. each night Monday through Thursday, in the following locations:

  • The joint hearing room of the Department of Legislative Services building, 90 State Circle in Annapolis, on Monday;
  • The Paul C. Wolman Assembly room of the War Memorial Building, 101 N. Gay St. in Baltimore, on Tuesday;
  • The Banneker Room of the George Howard Building, 3430 Court House Dr. in Ellicott City, on Wednesday; and,
  • Hearing room 106 of the Baltimore County office building at 111 W. Chesapeake Ave. in Towson on Thursday.

Earlier hearings were held in the Pepco service area in Rockville and Largo on Aug. 8 and 9. Hearings later this month will be in Frederick and La Plata.

Input from customers will be factored into a review the Maryland Public Service Commission is conducting of BGE's and other utilities' response to the storm. Such reviews are routine after major widespread outages. The utilities will appear before the commission in September for hearings to defend their storm response.
