NAIFA celebrates 50th anniversary

August 13, 2012

The Harford-Cecil Chapter of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA) will celebrate its 50th anniversary Sept. 6, 7:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at MacGregor's Restaurant in Havre de Grace.

Featured at this special event are key politicians and NAIFA national representative speakers, a vendor fair, door prizes, one hour continuing education, awards and recognitions and a networking opportunity. Continental breakfast and a luncheon will be served to all members, guests and presenters who attend.

Founded in 1890 as The National Association of Life Underwriters (NALU), NAIFA is one of the nation's oldest and largest associations representing the interests of insurance professionals from every congressional district in the United States. NAIFA members assist consumers by focusing their practices on one or more of the following: life insurance and annuities, health insurance and employee benefits, multiline and financial advising and investments. NAIFA's mission is to advocate for a positive legislative and regulatory environment, enhance business and professional skills and promote the ethical conduct of its members.

NAIFA is an advocate for the financial services industry and the common good of the American consumer. Robert Miller, president of the NAIFA recently issued the following statement concerning the U.S. Supreme Court's decision to uphold the healthcare law: "NAIFA's primary healthcare reform goal is to ensure access to affordable health services in a sustainable, competitive insurance market without jeopardizing the high quality of care and service expected by consumers. The Supreme Court's ruling provides the clarity needed to advance NAIFA's goals."

The local NAIFA Harford-Cecil Association has been chartered since 1962 and offers continuing education to licensed financial professionals and welcomes new members and guests to visit. Meetings are held the first Thursday of each month 8 to 11 a.m. at the HEAT Center in Aberdeen.
