Update: 68-year-old woman injured in Hampden shooting incident

August 10, 2012|By Justin Fenton, The Baltimore Sun

City police say a 68-year-old woman was injured Thursday afternoon after someone fired multiple shots into a residence.

At about 3:30 p.m., a vehicle drove into the 3700 block of Hickory Ave., just a few blocks north of The Avenue in Hampden, and fired several rounds at the home, police said. The victim was inside at the time and suffered an injury to her foot.

Police said Friday that investigators now believe the woman was not struck by a bullet, but instead a metal shard from a door. That means the incident won't be counted as a shooting, but rather an aggravated assault and discharging.

Det. Jeremy Silbert, a police spokesman, said a motive was unclear.

The vehicle is described only as a white vehicle with blue stripes.
