Meow! Get ready for all the judging at the Hidden Peak Cat Club Show

Agility competitions, purebreds and shopping are part of the fun

The 34th annual Hidden Peak Cat Club show hits the Maryland State Fairgrounds Aug. 11 and 12, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days.

Expect the fur to fly during some tense competitions: Non-pedigreed pets will compete against each other and all cats are eligible for agility competitions, which are basically cool obstacle courses. The big event is the judging of the 200 to 300 purebreds, from Maine Coon cats to hairless Sphynxes.

And, of course, every good show includes shopping opportunities. Get cat toys, jewelry, clothing and collectibles. Or buy yourself a cat. Purebreds will be for sale, and adoptions of rescue cats will also be offered.

Tickets, available at the door, are $6 for adults, $4 for seniors and kids; or $16 for a family. The event is in the exhibition hall at 2200 York Road, Timonium, Md. Get more information at the show's web site (and get a $1 off coupon too!).
