The Elkridge Youth Organization 12-U travel team is holding tryouts Aug. 11 (9 a.m.-noon, general session), Aug. 12 (1-4 p.m.), Aug. 18 (9 a.m.-noon) and Aug. 19 (1-4 p.m., general session). All tryouts will be held at Rockburn Park, field 8. Players must be born on or after May 1, 2000 and must attend at least one general session but may attend more. Email skip.baylor@gmail.com.
The Elkridge Hurricanes 11-U travel team will conduct tryouts Aug. 12 from 1-3 p.m. at Rockburn Park, field 7. Interested players must not be 12 years old as of May 1, 2013. The 9-U Catonsville Cubs travel team will hold tryouts for the 2013 season Sept. 9 at 2 p.m. and Sept. 16 at 5 p.m. at St. Timothy's Church, 200 Ingleside Ave., Catonsville. Lacrosse
The Maryland Roughriders club team will hold tryouts for the summer 2013 teams Sept. 9 and 16 from noon-6 p.m. at CCBC-Catonsville. The Roughriders will field six teams: U-13, U-15, U-16 (two teams), U-18 Select and U-18 Elite. The tryout times are:

The Teach My Daughter to Play Basketball Clinic will be held Aug. 23-25 at Lake Elkhorn Middle School, in Columbia. The clinic is for girls ages 9-13. Evening sessions (6:30-8:30 p.m.) will be held Aug. 23 and 24; Aug. 25 is a morning session (10 a.m.-noon). Applicants may attend one, two or all three sessions. Cost: $40 per session. Golf
The fourth annual Celebration of Sports Golf Tournament will be held Oct. 5 at the Timbers at Troy Golf Course. The tournament is held in conjunction with the Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks' Celebration of Sports. Sept. 28 is the entry deadline. Cost: $85 (per individual), $340 (per team).
