A.C. Moore Arts & Crafts opened its eighth store in Maryland today in Severna Park.

The store in the Severna Park Marketplace, 571 Ritchie Highway, marks the 141st location for the New Jersey-based chain, which sells items for arts and crafts projects, school assignments, home decor, parties and weddings.  The store will also offer birthday and craft parties, craft workshops and ideas for planning themed birthday parties.

The new store, along with A.C. Moores in White Marsh, Glen Burnie, Bowie and Waldorf, will feature special deals this week. Visit www.acmoore.com  for more details.

Teachers get discounts of 15 percent off all items, including items on sale.

The chain's director of education, Robin Beam, came up with a list of items, mostly under $10,  for back-to-school projects designed to help kids and parents get organized. Beam's suggested items include:

 -Personalized backpacks and book bags.

-Unfinished wood clipboard frames and organizers that can be decorated.

-Top Load Album School Year Memory Books for storing artwork.

-Home Decor Bulletin Boards for dorms or study areas.

-Personalized pencil boxes for $1.
