An 80-year-old woman was found dead after a fire broke out in a Reisterstown home Saturday afternoon.

Shortly after 4 p.m., Baltimore County firefighters were called to the 400 block of Main St., where they saw heavy smoke billowing from the back of a home, officials said.

The firefighters determined the flames were coming from a rear bedroom and began an "aggressive attack" on the fire, the department said.

The single-alarm fire was placed under control shortly after 4:20 p.m., about 15 minutes after firefighters were dispatched, officials said. About 40 firefighters and eight vehicles responded.

Investigators are working to determine the cause of the blaze. Officials have not yet released the identity of the 80-year-old woman.
