Havre de Grace resident appointed by governor to fill vacancy

Thomas Fitzpatrick of Havre de Grace was named by Governor Martin O'Malley Thursday to fill a vacancy on the Harford County Board of Education.

Fitzpatrick will finish out the term of Ronald Browning of Havre de Grace who stepped down earlier this year. The term representing Harford County Council District F, which includes Havre de Grace and Riverside, runs through June 30, 2015.

According to the announcement of the appointment from the governor's office, Fitzpatrick is the manufacturer's representative with Storm-Services, LLC. In his career, he has developed comprehensive strategic plans and worked with state and local government to address storm water management issues. 

"Mr. Fitzpatrick will bring the perspective of the business community to the board's deliberations," the governor's announcement states.

Fitzpatrick is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers Technical Advisory Committee on Storm Water Issues, a member of the Havre de Grace Lions Club and the County Engineers Association of Maryland. He also serves on the Havre de Grace Planning and Zoning Commission and the Havre de Grace Independence Day committee. 

Fitzpatrick earned a bachelor's degree in political science from Loyola College and a master's degree in business administration with a concentration in marketing from the University of Baltimore. He has lived in Harford County since 1962.
