Soccer
Registration ends Aug. 15 for the Elkridge Youth Organization fall soccer program. Register early as some leagues fill up. EYO soccer is a co-ed recreational program that places emphasis on instruction, fitness and fun. Games are played at Rockburn Park. Players ages 4-18 are welcome; there are no tryouts for the recreational leagues.

Baseball
The AYRA travel teams are holding tryouts:
10-U: 10 a.m., Aug. 11 and 25 at Hammond Middle School, field 1.
11-U (born after April 30, 2001): 2 p.m., Aug. 12 and 19, at Hammond Park.
12-U (born after April 30, 2000): 2 p.m., Aug. 12 and 19 at Hammond Park.
13-U: 2 p.m., Aug. 5 and 18 at Schooley Mill Park, field 3.

The following Western Howard County travel baseball teams will hold tryouts for the spring season.
The WHC Renegades support travel teams from 9-U through 22-U. Teams participate in the MABA, Baltimore Metro, Eddie Brooks and Maryland Collegiate Baseball League. Tryouts began in late July and will continue through September. The Burtonsville Athletic Association is holding tryouts for its fall travel teams for ages U-9 though U-14. Fall rec league registration is also being accepted. Go to http://www.burtonsvillesports.org.
Basketball
The Teach My Daughter to Play Basketball Clinic will be held Aug. 23-25 at Lake Elkhorn Middle School, in Columbia. The clinic is for girls ages 9-13. Evening sessions (6:30-8:30 p.m.) will be held Aug. 23 and 24; Aug. 25 is a morning session (10 a.m.-noon). Applicants may attend one, two or all three sessions. Cost: $40 per session. Golf
The First Tee of Howard County is looking for foursomes to play in the 11th annual golf tournament at Fairway Hills Golf Club on Aug. 8. Check-in begins at 11 a.m. with a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start. The fourth annual Celebration of Sports Golf Tournament will be held Oct. 5 at the Timbers at Troy Golf Course. The tournament is held in conjunction with the Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks' Celebration of Sports. Sept. 28 is the entry deadline. Cost: $85 (per individual), $340 (per team). Table tennis/chess
The Howard County/Carroll County Table Tennis Club will host a table tennis and chess day camp in the Carrolltown Center in Eldersburg Aug. 20-24. All ages and levels of play welcome.
