Baseball tryouts

The Savage Screaming Eagles 12-and-under baseball team will hold tryouts for the coming season at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, and 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, at Savage Park, 8400 Fair St. To be eligible, players cannot be 13 years old as of May, 1, 2013. 'Colors of Nature'

An exhibition of watercolors by Diana Marta is on view through Aug. 30 at Tai Sophia Institute's Himmelfarb Gallery, 7750 Montpelier Road in Laurel. Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays-Thursdays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays, and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays. Information: 410-888-9048 or tai.edu.

Bluegrass music

Saturday night movie

The North Laurel Community Center offers this monthly family event at 6 p.m. at 9411 Whiskey Bottom Road. Cost is $4, $2 for community members, and includes popcorn and drinks. Registration and information: 410-313-0390. "The Princess and the Frog" (rated G) will be shown Aug. 18.

Laurel's mill history

"True Life: I'm a Laurel Mill Worker" is on view at the Laurel Museum, 817 Main St. The exhibit explores Laurel's history as a mill town and the community's early growth. Using an 1870s family to tell the story, it introduces visitors to the lives and experiences of the hundreds of men, women and children who worked in the town's cotton mills between the 1830s and 1929.  The exhibit includes artifacts, diaries, photos and a re-created millworker's home. Admission is free. Hours are 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays.

Montpelier tours

Montpelier Mansion, 9650 Muirkirk Road, Laurel, has changed its tour times. New times are:

•Self-guided: year-round, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Thursdays-Tuesdays.

•Guided: Sundays at noon, 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m., March-November.
