College wrestling: Maryland coach Kerry McCoy signed a five-year contract extension through the 2016-17 season.

Women's college bowling: The UMES coaching duo of Kristina Frahm and Doug Dukes were named to the Top 100 Coaches list by Bowlers Journal International.

World TeamTennis: The Washington Kastles (12-0) beat the host New York Sportimes (7-5), 21-16, for their second win over their Eastern Conference rivals in four nights. The victory extended the Kastles' winning streak to 28 matches.

Redskins: Strong safety Brandon Meriweather has pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges of driving while intoxicated and refusing a breath test, according to court records. Meriweather entered the plea last Thursday July 19 and was fined $300 plus $81 in court costs, according to Arlington County General District Court records. His driver's license was suspended for 60 days and a 180-day jail sentence was suspended. Meriweather was pulled over in Arlington County on April 26 for speeding and failed a field sobriety test, according to police.
