Musical workshop for teens

The Annapolis Summer Garden Theatre is accepting applications for its teen workshop. It explores drama and vocal skills, monologues, cold readings, audition techniques and various styles of dance. Through theater games, scene work, movement, improvisation and imagination, participants will gain a better understanding of the art of musical theater. The session runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 6-10 with a final rehearsal 5 p.m.-10 p.m. Aug. 13. The workshop culminates in a Broadway-style musical revue with final performances at 8:30 p.m. Aug. 14-15. To participate, students must have completed the seventh grade.

Art fundraising event

Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts will host its annual fundraising event, "Arts Alive," from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Sept. 7. The event raises funds for the hall's year-round arts-related programs. "An Evening in Paris" takes place in a tent on the front lawn and will feature silent and live auctions, a raffle and musical entertainment. There will also be tasting stations featuring signature dishes and drinks from area restaurants, caterers and hotels. Tickets are $150 per person and sponsorships are $1,500, $3,000, $5,000 and $10,000, which includes tickets for 10 people and numerous recognition opportunities.

Concert Series

The U.S. Army Field Band presents its annual Summer Concert Series every Saturday in August at 7 p.m. at Constitution Park on Fort Meade.

The U.S. Army Concert Band and Soldiers' Chorus kicks off the series Aug. 4, performing Broadway, opera, Americana and classical works. Admission is free; no tickets are required. Bring blankets or lawn chairs. Grills, glass containers, alcoholic beverages and pets are not allowed.

One-Act Play Festival

The Colonial Players' biennial One-Act Play Festival featuring eight directors and eight short plays runs through Sunday, July 29, at 108 East St. in Annapolis. Plays are divided into two slates, with four performances of each slate. Tickets are $10 for each performance, Thursday-Sunday. Theatrical production

The Bowie Community Theatre presents the comedy "Love, Sex, And The IRS" through Saturday, July 28, at the Bowie Playhouse, 16500 White Marsh Park Drive. Show times are 8 p.m. Fridays-Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays. Tickets are $17; $12 for seniors and students. Information: 301-805-0219.

Farmers' market coupons

Farmers' market coupons will be available during July at the Department of Aging and Disabilities, seven senior activity centers, two senior housing communities, and four nutrition sites. Coupons are for residents 60 and older who meet certain income guidelines. To be eligible, individuals may earn up to $1,722 per month and a two-person family can earn up to $2,332 per month. Please bring photo ID.

Coupons may be picked up from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 2666 Riva Road, Suite 400 in Annapolis on a first-come, first-served basis until they are gone.

Coupons will also be available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at these locations:

•July 23, Glen Square Senior Building, 102 N. Crain Highway, Glen Burnie, and Annapolis Senior Center, 119 S. Villa Ave.

•July 24, Victoria Park, 87 Stewart Drive, Edgewater; and Claiborne Nutrition Site, 130 Hearne Road, Annapolis.

•July 27, Pascal Senior Center, 125 Dorsey Road, Glen Burnie.

Silopanna lineup

Cake, Citizen Cope, G. Love and Special Sauce, Robert Randolph and the Family Band, J. Roddy Walston and the Business, Jimmie's Chicken Shack, Audra Mae, Yuna and Joe Pug are among the performers at this year's Silopanna Music Festival, scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 11, at the Anne Arundel County Fairgrounds in Crownsville. Reunion notices

A half-century has passed since Baltimore's City College graduated more than 600 young men in 1962, and a reunion is being planned for Oct. 13. Organizers are trying to contact every class member but haven't found everybody.
