IronBirds fall short in road game with Hudson Valley, 5-4

Despite scoring three times in their final at-bat during Thursday's road contest with the Hudson Valley Renegades, the Aberdeen IronBirds fell short by one, losing 5-4.

Trailing 5-1, heading into the ninth, Aberdeen rallied for three tallies, but could not plate the tying run.

Torsten Boss was 1-for-4 with two RBIs in the loss, while Tom Winegardner was 2-for-5 with a triple, one RBI and one run. Creede Simpson and Lucas Herbst each had one run and one base hit, while Roderick Bernadina was 1-for-3 with one run and a pair of walks.

Taking the loss was IronBird starter David Richardson (1-2), who went 4-2/3 innings in which he struck out four, walked two and allowed four earned runs on five hits. Jose Nivar shut down the Renegades for the remainder of the contest, holding opposing batters to one hit over the final 3-1/3 innings.

With the loss, Aberdeen fell to 11-20 on the season. Through Thursday's contest, the IronBirds were at the bottom of the New York-Penn League's McNamara Division, 1.5 games behind third-place Staten Island.
