The National Weather Service is calling for Wednesday to be partly sunny in the Baltimore area, with a high near 101 and southwest winds 6 to 10 miles per hour. There is a 30 percent chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m.

A heat advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, with the heat index expected to be around 105 degrees in the afternoon. Forecasters warn that some of the thunderstorms could be severe, producing damaging wind gusts and large hail. They note that heavy rainfall also could lead to flash flooding.

Wednesday night is expected to be mostly cloudy, with a low around 77 and southwest winds 3 to 6 miles per hour. There is a 50 percent chance of precipitation.

Thursday is expected to be mostly cloudy, with a high near 93 and northwest winds around 5 miles per hour in the afternoon. There is a 60 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1 p.m.

Thursday night is expected to be cloudy, with a low around 76 and east winds around 6 miles per hour after midnight. There is a 60 percent chance of precipitation.
