A 32-year-old man was in critical condition Saturday night after being shot during a fight at an East Baltimore bar, police said.

The man was shot in the arm and torso at about 7:10 p.m. inside El Rancho Blanco, at 100 S. Fagley St. in the Baltimore Highlands neighborhood, according to a statement from Sgt. Anthony Smith, a police spokesman.

Two people entered the bar and argued with the victim before he was shot, Smith said. Patrons of the bar detained the shooter but the other person who argued with the victim fled, he said.

Police recovered a handgun at the bar. Both the shooter and the victim were taken to a hospital for treatment. Homicide detectives are investigating the shooting because of the seriousness of the victim's injuries, Smith said.
