SARC has been selected by Liberty Mutual to participate in the "Like My Community" program, which raises awareness of local charitable organizations and the services they provide. Through Aug. 20, people can vote for an organization they feel worthy of $30,000 in funding from Liberty Mutual. SARC is the only organization in Harford County chosen to participate.
Since 1978, SARC has provided hope and resources to victims of domestic violence, sexual violence, child abuse and stalking. Services are provided at no cost to victims and their families. These include a 24-hour helpline, counseling, legal representation, a 28-bed confidential safe house and community outreach and education.
The three organizations with the most votes on Aug. 20 will each be awarded $30,000. SARC is faced with significant budgetary cuts from local, state and federal sources this year, so the invitation to participate in Liberty Mutual's "Like My Community" campaign comes at an opportune time. Luisa Caiazzo-Nutter, executive director of SARC stated, "We are truly blessed to be chosen to participate in the program this year, and now need help from everyone in our community to make it to the top three; $30,000 will ensure that victims of violence have the tools and support to create a brighter future."
