Sagamore Racing filly Millionreasonswhy dies in training accident Sunday morning

Millionreasonswhy, a three-year-old filly from Sagamore Racing, died Sunday morning after crashing through a rail on the 3/4-mile training track at Sagamore Farm. She died instantly of internal injuries.

“This is a very emotional day for our team,” said Tom Mullikin, Sagamore Racing's general manager. “Millionreasonswhy was a classy and tough filly that had not yet reached her full potential.  She was also a very sweet horse that was always a pleasure to be around.  I want to thank [trainer] Ignacio [Correas IV], Bob Feld and our entire team who cared for Millionreasonswhy.  We also want to thank Millionreasonswhy’s fans and supporters of Sagamore Racing.  We will miss her dearly."

Millionreasonswhy finished in the top three in each of her six starts. She won the Grade II Matron Stakes at Belmont Park on July 3, 2011, and claimed the Wide Country Stakes at Laurel Park on March 3. In her final race, Millionreasonswhy took second at the Ms. Preakness Stakes at Pimlico. She had a career record of 3-2-1 with earnings of $223,340.

Millionreasonswhy will be buried in the Sagamore Farm cemetery alongside Hall of Fame horses Native Dancer, Discovery and Bed O'Roses.
