Letter: Striking down Stolen Valor Act was a good decision

Letter to the editor

June 29, 2012

True valor can't be stolen. The Bush-era Stolen Valor Act never made any sense to me, and I am glad it's gone. If you say that those in the foxholes are fighting for our freedoms, then remember that one of those is to not have to worry that what you say in the street is being looked up on a government list of approved opinions.

I will frame the newspaper clipping about the Supreme Court's decision and hang it on my wall, next to my Legion D'Honneur, my gold membership at Top Golf and my ordination certificate from the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

(Just kidding — that hasn't been outlawed yet.)
