The National Weather Service is calling for Thursday to be mostly sunny in the Baltimore area, with a high near 97 and west winds between 5 and 9 miles per hour.

A small craft advisory is in effect Thursday night for the Maryland Chesapeake Bay from Smith Point to Drum Point.

Forecasters warn that the mix of low moisture, low humidity and gusty winds on Thursday will lead to an "enhanced threat" of fires.

Thursday night is expected to be partly cloudy, with a low around 77 and south winds between 5 and 8 miles per hour. There is a 30 percent chance of precipitation .

Friday is expected to be mostly sunny, with a high near 99 and west winds between 6 and 10 miles per hour. An "excessive heat watch" will be in effect from Friday morning until Friday evening, with heat index values as high as 106. There is a 30 percent chance of precipitation.

Friday night is expected to be partly cloudy, with a low around 76 and west winds around 6 miles per hour or less. There is a 30 percent chance of precipitation.
