Glenelg Country School has named Oakland Mills graduate Glenn Hayman as its new varsity boys soccer coach.

Hayman returns to the Howard County area after a successful soccer career as a player and a coach at Roanoke College.

After helping Oakland Mills capture consecutive state championships in 1998-99, Hayman enjoyed a four-year career at Roanoke before becoming an assistant coach at the college. He also coached at Lord Botetourt High School from 2007-09.

As a college player, he earned All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference honors in both his junior and senior seasons. During his senior year, he served as captain and was recognized as an NCAA All South Region player.

“Glenn’s experiences in the soccer world translate perfectly to GCS and what we are trying to see in our soccer program.  His familiarity with the county, the recruiting process, and his documented success as a head coach at the high school level will serve him well as he takes on the challenge ahead,” states GCS Athletic Director, Nan Hambrose.
