Golf

The First Tee of Howard County has openings in its summer program that begins July 7 and ends Aug. 29. First Tee provides golf and life skills instruction for participants, ages 6 through 17. It is a nationally recognized program and chapter. Each level of the program is age-appropriate. Go to http://www.thefirstteehowardcounty.org or call 410-730-1114.

Soccer

The SAC United White (U-11 girls) team is looking for players for the fall and spring. Email mstromberg13@gmail or call 410-207-5174.

Thunder Soccer Club's Spurs (rising U-10 boys) team is holding tryouts by request. The team will play in CMSSL and several tournaments. Email kevin@spi-syst.com if interested in trying out.

The Thunder Crew and Fusion (U-15 boys) will hold supplemental tryouts beginning the last week of June for fall and spring play. Email coachgandalf@gmail.com.

Thunder Soccer Club's Siafu (rising U-14 girls, born on or after Aug. 1, 1998) are holding supplemental tryouts all summer long at practices. The team is in WAGS Division 1 and plans to play in the Region 1 Colonial League in the spring. Go to ThunderSoccerClub.org or e-mail p.corbett10@gmail.com.

Oakland Mills High School will sponsor soccer camps for players ages 5-14. The camp weeks are June 25-29 and July 16-20. The camps meet from 8:30-11:30 a.m. Cost: $95 per week. Email thesoccercamp@gmail.com or call 443-801-9881.

Running

The Howard County Striders/Bullseye Running Friday Night Cross Country Series on the high school cross country courses continue June 29 at 6:30 p.m. at River Hill High School. Adults and children are welcome.

Other races in the series are July 6 (Centennial), July 20 (Reservoir) and July 27 (Hammond). Register ($5) between 5:30 and 6:30 at each race location. Run in three of the races and earn a Striders/Bullseye Running performance shirt.

The county rec department is sponsoring Phil Lang's All-Star Running Camps for ages 8-18. The camps are weeklong. Register at http://activenet12.active.com/howardcounty/.

The rec department's Cross Country Camp will be held July 9-13 from 9 a.m.to 4:30 p.m. at Western Regional Park. Email acullison@howardcountymd.gov or call 410-313-4705.

Sports physicals

Kernan Sports Medicine is offering pre-participation sports physicals for high school athletes. Cost: $30 per athlete for completion of the Kernan Sports Medicine physical form. There is an added $5 fee for each additional form. Call 410-298-0990 ext.15 to speak with a certified athletic trainer to set up an appointment. Walk-ins will not be accepted.

Physicals are offered:

June 24, 9 a.m.-noon, Kernan Physical Therapy in Woodlawn.

July 22, 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Central Maryland Rehabilitation in Columbia. (Must register by July 18).

Aug. 5, 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m., University of Maryland Orthopedic Associates in Columbia. (Must register by Aug. 1).

Baseball

Leader's Baseball Camp has multiple sessions for rising second- to ninth-graders, including pitching and catching. This camp includes instruction from current District 5 Coach of the Year Adam Leader and his staff, visits from professional baseball players, discussions with professional sports physical therapists about arm care and a trip to an Orioles game. Professional Baseball Training is offering two separate weeks of camp at Howard High School. Campers will be split up by age group and have their own instructor(s). The camps run July 16-20 and 23-27. Camp options include single-day, half-day, full-day, full week and both weeks. The full day is from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and a discount is offered for those attending full day both weeks. The half-day camp is 9 a.m.-noon. Discounts are offered for early registration.

The camp levels are Rookies (rising third-fifth graders), Minors (rising sixth-eighth graders) and Majors (rising ninth-12th graders). The Majors Camp only runs from 9 a.m.-noon.

Basketball

The Wilde Lake Boosters are hosting a basketball camp for middle school girls July 30-Aug. 3 from 1-4 p.m. Email caitlin_williams@hcpss.org with questions.

Lacrosse

Tom Marechek's All Pro Lacrosse, which has merged with Under Armour Lacrosse, is offering boys day and overnight camps for ages 7-17. The Maryland Camp will be held at Goucher College in Baltimore. Cheerleading
